In Barcelona Vagabonds are offered food and clothes all the year round for free and passport is not required, but for a place to sleep it can be difficult! And Europeans and outside foreigns are treated with different rules by the spanish authorities. In other words when you come to Barcelona you can not always relax, when sleeping on the street especially near centre, you get troubled: poor people have their shoes, clothes, bags and papers stolen and are threatened much too!
All public transports are usually checked at entrance by guards (some with dogs) especially in the busy hours (mon-fri). Ticket sellers usually don´t come out of their box to run after intruders. Most of Barcelona is flat Land: Streets are overall very clean and planned like square roads with one way traffic and lots of walking space for those on foot. Sex shops are rare, but still there are plenty of cheap intrusive hookers out on the street.
If you are entitled social wellfare, it wont be money you get from them. I think, that they provide all as long as you want to work: You can then freely sleep in one of Barcelonas three alberge and eat three times a day for one or more months (until you get a job and an appartment of your own)! You may have to learn spanish, but there are plenty of free schools (unlike Germany whose social system does not apply to all for free).
You can not earn money here on collecting and selling bottles, but you can do it on metals, fx.: aluminium, copper, ... Just give it to the fabric (C/Vistalegra 18 (left of houseentrance)). I found 6 kg cable in a container and they paid me 7.20 euro for just 1 hour´s work.
People also give money and cigarets a lot to beggars. In bank offices - where many sleep - they often give them without request.
Caritas also help people financially. In Barcelona(map) I know an alcoholic from Bolivia, who they provided with appartment and monthly payment together with antibus pills he had to take.
TERRASSA:
In Terrassa(map) they refered me to a low paid 9-14 job (putting toothbrushes in boxes and such). There are not really any to-be places (warming shelters) for the vagabond homeless People, but there are plenty of libraries with free internet and thousands of popular movies, you can watch.
